How often do we forget to say “thank you?”  We’re in a hurry, distracted… But what if that other person is also hurried or worried and thinking about something else?

Saying “thank you” acknowledges the other person.  Someone brought you coffee, offered to help you carry a heavy box, or maybe a co-worker stayed late or gave you a hand with something.  It doesn’t even have to benefit you directly; maybe they were just doing their job.  But you benefited from their effort somehow: the office is nicer, you could get on your way, or your purchase was rung up.

Gratitude is a gift we give to others AND to ourselves.  It fosters mindfulness, helps build connections, and inserts positivity into their and our day.
